TOPIC: About our Members and Site Design Basics

Prior to our Site Design Presentation, we will be holding time for any members interested to give a brief presentation of their companies and what they do.

Site Design Basics: Don Roscoe & John Hattie

Don and John will present on the following:

  • Site assessment basics (orientation, map reading, etc.)
  • Finding true north/south ( the seasonal sun cycle }
  • Surveying basics (eye level, dumpy/carpenters level, etc.)
  • Data gathering and site assessment
  • Designing the site and then a concept for the home design that works with the opportunities that the land offers
This session is open to members and non-members alike, and is the precursor to our April 27th & 28thSite Assessment Workshop, and is mandatory if you want to attend the weekend workshop.  The Workshop fee is $20 per person for NS Home Designer members and students; $40 per person for non-members.

 

PRIOR TO THE PRESENTATION, all are invited to join the NSHDA Board of Directors at 5:00 pm for supper at Pilots Pub (10 Atlantic St, Dartmouth, NS).

  • Meal and other expenses are yours to cover.
  • There is always a great discussion on what’s happening in the industry and what we’re all working on.
  • This is an excellent networking opportunity, open to anyone with an interest in home design, activities and education topics offered by NSHDA .
