NSPI Tour – Report
Last evening Paul Currie of NSPI, Denis Morris of M&R Engineering and Sheena Gilman of Fowler Bauld & Mitchell hosted the members of NSHBDA and Solar Nova Scotia on a tour of NSPI’s wonderful new building on Lower Water Street.
The over 40 attendees enjoyed hearing about the re-design and re-use of this amazing structure and the future plans for hosting the Discovery Centre in the old sound stage space. We were given detailed information on the innovative mechanical systems (harbour water is used in the heating and cooling systems), the plumbing and structural systems, as well as the features that will make this award-winning building an incredible space to work in.
Everyone at NSHBDA and Solar NS would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul, Sheena and Denis for this detailed and informative tour of the facility. Their openness and ability to answer our varied and detailed questions has really given us an insider’s view of this progressive and unique building and how it will become a model for new design and construction in Halifax and beyond. The level of attention to detail and innovation was truly amazing and inspiring.
Thanks again to everyone for coordinating and hosting this tour.
Sincerely,
Mark Gillis, P.Eng.
President NSHBDA
