The winning homes and building will be featured in the Fall Ideal Home Show, “NSHBDA Design Competition Gallery”, along with all other submitted designs. They may also be used other media related outlets and the NSHBDA web site, as to promote the Association and it’s members.

Design Competition Categories will be:

  • New Home design
  • Reno & Addition design
  • Designs not yet built
  • Other design
  • Student design

To enter you must be a member of NSHBDA and new members are definitely welcome. Entry application/Release Form along with all the 2018 design competition rules and regulations can be found below.

There is a fee for each submission (waived for students) as outlined in the “Rules and Regulations. All submissions will be accepted from monthly training session Tuesday, February 20, 2018 until the training session Tuesday, May 15, 2018 or final deadline on Friday, June 1, 2018 between 12 noon and 1:30 pm at NSCC Waterfront Campus cafeteria. There must be a minimum of 20 design submissions received to hold annual completion. An independent panel of judges will review the designs and select the winners.

The Nova Scotia Home & Building Designers’ Association (NSHBDA) was established in 1995 as the Nova Scotia Home Designers Association to foster the growth and education for home and small building designers in the construction industry.  Members of the NSHBDA have been recognized provincially and nationally, having received multiple Nova Scotia Home Awards, CMHC’s Flex Housing Design Competition, Natural Resources’ Passive Solar Design Awards and previous NSHBDA design competition awards.

With our training and continuing education, members of NSHBDA have assisted many Nova Scotia home owners with the design of their custom designed dream home, their reno/addition design or their small building design project and should be considered by others, as their future design professional.
