Proposing a Design Partnership
for the 21st Century
The Nova Scotia Home Designers Association, established in 1995, is a
dynamic and growing professional organization dedicated to the excellence of
design and to the advancement of all aspects of the home building industry.
Although our membership presently is drawn from all over Nova Scotia, we are
already expanding beyond our provincial borders, having recently welcomed our
first member from New Brunswick. Twenty-five to forty professional designers
now meet monthly.
It is at this point in the development of our Association that we feel
confident enough to extend an invitation to our colleagues in the many related
fields of the building industry to join us as corporate members. Building
material suppliers, manufacturers, lumber yards, and professional builders will
directly benefit from membership. Why?

- 99% of the decisions about materials and
components destined to be incorporated into a new home or renovation are
made at the design stage. Designers must be confident and knowledgeable
about the products they specify. You as supplier or manufacturer want your
product information to be front and center when design decisions are made.
- Each corporate member
regularly receives an updated NSHDA membership list.
- We hold regular monthly
meetings. As a Corporate Member you will have the opportunity to address
our members directly. This will provide a faster avenue to send your
message out into the industry. Every Christmas Social and Agm
meeting we invite several Corporate Members to put
on product & technical information sessions.
- When a building component
works well, or when an installer or sub-trade does an outstanding job, the
designer is usually the first to hear about it. In a similar Manner, when
a product fails, or does not meet expected performance, it is also the
designer who learns of it first. Such knowledge will enable your company
to be more competitive and can be vital to the effective improvement of
your product or service.
- Our membership has a wide
range of technical expertise, which we are willing to use to help to
improve new and old products. As an example, we have provided technical
information to a company developing a new exterior sheathing product so
that they can successfully gain CCMC evaluation and approval.
- Our rigorous Certification
Program may offer you and your staff a convenient and cost effective way
to keep up with the latest trends in the building industry, and thus stay
ahead of your competition by anticipating demand. So come join with us,
and help us make a blueprint for design worthy of the new millennium!
